Air Force 1: Nike Golden Shoes End 2008 Beijing Olympics in Style

The Beijing Olympics has held everyone breathless for days. With the closing ceremonies, as new stars and fallen heroes return to their homeland, as channels are being changed to the usual soaps, as tears are being wiped at the thought of the end of another spectacle, Nike gives sports fans another chance to hold on a bit longer to the glory felt we all felt and which escalated with every passing day of the Olympics. Intended to clash with the Closing Ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Nike releases a pair of Golden Shoes: the Air Force 1.

The commemorative pair of Nike shoes is striking in bright metallic gold. The upper part of the shoes are decorated with Chinese motifs, laser etched for perfect finish. The gold Air Force 1 shoe will be released today (August 25th) and comes in a special box that highlights the day that the Beijing Olympics began this year: 080808. This golden number may remind football fans of the special gold sneakers that had been released for another sporting event a few years ago. But these Air Force 1s are up for grabs by anyone feeling nostalgic about the end of the Olympics.
